Pilates Teacher Training

Our Teacher Training, Mentoring Program, and Continuing Education Bridge programs take place in the original location of Joseph and Clara Pilates’ New York studio and furnishes a great opportunity for any beginner, novice, or veteran Pilates teacher. The Teacher Training certificate program provides everything a Pilates instructor needs to know to begin their teaching career, or enhance their existing career. In sessions taught by Roberta Kirschenbaum and a roster of master guest teachers, you will discover how to train your clients, as well as yourself, to embody the art of Pilates. Our comprehensive program is classically based and embraces contemporary thought. We cover the entire Pilates repertoire on all the equipment, including, but not limited to, the Reformer, Cadillac, High Back Chair, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, Ped-o-pull, Magic Circle, Foot corrector and the Mat.

The training program emphasizes the art of teaching. Trainees learn to access each individual clearly, and how to structure the workout accordingly, whether that means modifications for various injuries or conditions, or unique challenges for dancers and athletes. You will learn how to modify exercises for people with various needs, and for people of all ages, shapes, sizes, and physical conditions.

The Program addresses every exercise from the perspectives of choreography, breath, reps, springs/equipment, and spine opposition, lines of energy, goals, safety, props, cues and imagery.

There is an emphasis on observation, practice teaching, as well as your own personal Pilates practice. After completing the program you will earn your teacher training certificate from Rolates Pilates and be prepared to take the nationally, and internationally recognized Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) certification exam.
