Naja Cori

Naja Cori, formerly known as Dolores Cori (Corey), was a dancer (she once danced with a Cobra on the Mike Douglas Show) and one of Joe Pilates’ pupils. She directed the Pilates Studio at Henri Bendel’s on Fifth Avenue. In 1965 – the N.Y Herald Tribune stated – “In charge of the Bendel operation is Corey a dancer who has trained with Joe for some years and is one of his star pupils and aides.” In 1972, Cue Magazine, stated in discussion of Naja’s practice and teachings – “Almost seven years ago Miss Corey introduced the Pilates system of Contrology to the Beauty Floor her, and her waiting list attests to the success of her methods. First of all, in this crisp white studio, she’ll start immediately to educate you to want more of yourself than you think possible. And she can do it.”
